I am working on a long-term piece consisting of a few simple parts: the HERE and NOW stickers I made on Thursday, some of my time, and most importantly, some of my not-often-used contemplative ability. All I am doing is putting up stickers along my everyday route—but I must actually pause and take in that moment and place when I do. Also, when I spot them later, I must do the same thing.
Successes so far:
It’s working, I am snapping to the present moment rather easily.
Failures/disappointments so far:
It’s a pretty self-absorbed act of graffiti. I am not comfortable putting the stickers up but I am making myself do it anyway. I am trying to be systematic about it, but a pattern has yet to arise. Also, there is little return in terms of artifacts or proof that the gesture is affecting others in any way.
It’s a start on some Monstress Product development nonetheless. More to come.
